Why would America be at war with Iran?

After Trump spoke directly to the Times about his vision, the newspaper added that the president “offered several seemingly contradictory visions of how power might be transferred to a new government — or even whether the existing Iranian power structure would run that government or be overthrown.”

Are we at war with Iran? One would THINKthat would be a simple question!

When the question is “Is the United States currently at war?” and the answer is “It depends on whom you ask,” there’s a problem.

Unfortunately, asking several people resulted in several different answers.

Secretary of State Rubio gave an astonishing answer as to why the US appeared to be at war. Rubio at firs said that as Israel was going to war with Iran nyway, the US had to be there to limit the damage that might occur. Realizing that that made the US appear to be the helpless puppet of Israel, they changed that to say that  Iran was building up  so many drones and missiles  “they could hold the whole world hostage.” Erm, Russia and Ukraine are currently using thousands of drones and missles in their war!

Press Secretary Leavitt said that Trump had a ‘feeling based on fact’ that Iran would imminently attack.” So Trump’s “feelings” are now the official reason for the war?

So how well-planned was the strike on Iran? Well initially, the US told civilians caught in Gulf countries to find their own way out. It soon happened that all of the countries being attacked by Iranian drones shut down their airports, meaning there was no quick or asy way out.

“My office is receiving panicked calls from Americans stuck in the Middle East, outraged that our government has provided zero evacuation support,” tweeted Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) on Tuesday.

The numbers of such people are in the “tens of thousands!” Cruise ships can’t sail out of the Persian Gulf because Iranians have imposed a blockade.

Huh! Seems the US is having a difficult time countering Iranian Shahed drones. Hey, ya know who would be really helpful on that? Ukraine! But…oh yeah…Trump said

“Sleepy (ex-US President) Joe Biden spent all his time and money of our country, giving everything to the Ukrainian F.T. Barnum (Zelensky!). Hundreds of billions of dollars. And, although he gave away so many ultra—high-quality weapons (for free!),

As Trump tends to never apologize, it’s difficult to see how Trump could turn around and request Zelenkyy’s assisstance, even though he clearly needs it!

So six days after the Iran operation began (5Mar2026), we ask the question “Is the Unitse States at war with Iran?” The Trump Administration person referred the Congressperson to “Congress and lawyers” to definitively answer that question. He also couldn’t answer the question of whether the objective was regime change.

President Trump says he will protect the Iranian people and the Kurds. I very honstly do not think either one should trust in Trump’s assurances. They’re both very highly likely to be dumped the moment they become burdensome or inconvenient.

Good for Ukrainian President Zelenskyy! With Iran firing off Shahed drones at countries all around the Persian Gulf, he says (words to the effect of) “You want anti-Shahed drones? I got anti-Shahed drones! What I need isn’t money, but as many Patriot anti-aircraft missles as you can spare!” The UAE, very smartly, says (roughly) “Yes! Yes! We’ll take them!” They appreciated that Ukraine doesn’t just have the technology they need, but many years of dealing with exactly this threat!

And so ends one of the most idiotic “scandals” of the Biden Administration, the hullaballoo over the autopen! How do you show that the president’s autopen was misused? Essentially, the president/forme presidet has to confess. There is no set procedure for the president to follow, no law that determines that each signature is really his. If a former president indicates that he agrees with all of the directives, orders and awards that bear his auto-signature, and Biden does agree with all of them, then there is no case. Everything signed with Biden’s autopen stands.
